Experiential Hall in Shanghai

A Unique Combination of Catering, Entertainment, and Furniture Brand

The Experiential Hall in Shanghai, designed by Dang Ming and Li Dandi, is a groundbreaking project that seamlessly blends catering, entertainment, and furniture into one immersive experience. Supported by Fritz Hansen, a renowned Danish furniture brand with over 140 years of history, this old house has been revitalized to restore spatial vitality in a friendly and innovative way.

The Experiential Hall stands out with its unique features and strengths. The second floor has been transformed into a membership restaurant, offering a modern style that harmonizes with different textures of furniture. On the third floor, an entertainment club awaits, complete with an open reading space where customers can enjoy their favorite books in a serene environment. The club also features various tea rooms, each decorated in a distinct style, providing customers with the choice to spend time alone or invite friends for a leisurely experience.

The design of the Experiential Hall showcases the meticulous attention to detail. Victorian elements are prominently displayed, adding a touch of elegance and charm. The hardwood floors and diverse carpets create a regional atmosphere, while plants, art pieces, and furnishings create a harmonious blend of decoration and nature. The iron-made embellishments, carefully repaired and transformed into staircase hand-railings, create stunning spectacles under the lights, allowing visitors to leave their worries behind and immerse themselves in the beauty of the space.

The restoration of the Experiential Hall presented several challenges. The designers had to repair and restore the damaged wooden structures while considering energy-saving, thermal insulation, and aesthetics. Additionally, they had to utilize the transitional spaces in different zones effectively, ensuring a seamless flow throughout the hall.

Located in Shanghai, the Experiential Hall represents a new lifestyle defined by the fusion of food, entertainment, and furniture. It offers a destination for those who appreciate quality, enjoy life, and seek new experiences. The project started in July 2018 and was completed in May 2020, showcasing the dedication and expertise of the design team.

The Experiential Hall in Shanghai was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2021 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award recognizes designs that demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to improving the quality of life. The Experiential Hall truly embodies these qualities, making it a remarkable addition to the world of design.
